REGULATIONS/REGULAMENTOS


Objectivos

The FESTIVAL FILMES SOBRE ARTE is an international film competition in Lisbon/Portugal which promotes films which deal with art, artistic creation and art works. It accepts works of Portuguese and international film makers produced between 2008 - 2015.

Data

The deadline for film submissions is the 15th of July 2015. Later entries are not accepted.
The results will be announced on the website approx. by beginning of September. Due to our new production conditions, the final dates and venue of the festival are still to be defined.

Requirements

1. Preview copies: DVD with English subtitles
2. Exhibition Formats: digital formats
3. Signed inscription form
4. Director's statement (part of evaluation) in digital form

Submissions

1. Categories:
a. Films of Portuguese film makers of any length and genre
b. Films of Portuguese and International film makers of any length and genre

2. Submissions are free

3. Submission are complete if contain the following:

• Preview copy: DVD PAL (Eurozone) with English subtitles
• Signed inscription form
• Director's statement (part of evalutation) in digital form

4. Subtitles – for the screening videos in any category, it is indispensable to send the list of subtitles in English and a DVD with the final version of the film in order to prepare electronic subtitles. The screening prints or copies that do not have original versions in English, should have English subtitles.

5. Mail costs – mailing costs of sending the DVDs are the sender’s responsibility.

6. Return of material – the preview films sent for submission will automatically become part of the Festival’s collection and may be used only for cultural purposes without commercial interests.

7. Submission deadline –productions entries will be accepted up to July 15th, 2015 - online and postal date.

8. Internet – once a production is submitted and selected, all information on the entry forms can be made public through the Festival’s Internet site.

9. Films that were submitted in previous editions and were not selected, can not be submitted again.

10. Producer and filmmakers can submit more than one film.

11. Each DVD entry should have just one title.

12. If the director/producer does not follow all the conditions above, the documentary will not be considered by the selection committee.

Film Selection:

1. Five films will be awarded (see below). Please note that in 2015, due to the changed production condition, awards in cash, if any, are still to be defined. We are trying our best to find good sponsors to honour your work!

2. Promotional material and screening copies should arrive at the Festival’s head office latest 10 days before the event (dates still to be announced).

4. Shipping costs of sending the selected films are the sender’s responsibility. The value declared for customs must not exceed 10 dollars.

5. The festival does not pay screening fees.

6. Filmmakers/producers who have signed the entry form have authorized the screening of the submitted film one or twice during the festival.

7. Filmmakers/producers who have signed the entry form have authorized/or not authorized (please mention on the form) the screening of the submitted film in the planned extensions of the festival in the cities Faro and Oporto in Portugal. If the films are selected for the extensions without tat a competition is held, the festival tries to arrange extra screening fees.

7. Filmmakers of selected films automatically authorize the transmission of a maximum of 2 minute of showing time on TV and/or Internet for the promotion of the Film Competition.

Jury

The jury will consist of one or two major filmmaker and/or artist, together with 3-4 students of art and film.

Awards

The jury will give the following awards:

A. GOLDEN HARE

B. SILVER HARE

C. IRON HARE for the film which reflects the importance of arts in human society in the most original way

D. SPECIAL MENTION

E. SPECIAL MENTION

The event is also open for partnerships which result in different awards to be announced during the Festival’s award ceremony.

2. Cópia para selecção

Só serão admitidas cópias em DVD.
As cópias deverão ter legendas em inglês, excepto se a versão original for em Português ou Inglês.
Filmes em língua portuguesa, deverão ser entregues com um ficheiro em formato digital, adicional, com todo o texto contido no filme.
A cópia para selecção deverá ser igual à cópia para exibição.
As cópias para selecção não serão devolvidas, excepto se o realizador assim o requerer e as despesas serão da sua responsabilidade.

3. Nota de Intenções Artísticas

Descrição sumária sobre o processo criativo do filme submetido. O festival tem o maior interesse aprofundar os processos criativos de artistas de diferentes disciplinas aquando do trabalho conjunto.
O Festival FILMES SOBRE ARTE PORTUGAL explora e questiona a motivação dos criadores/ realizadores na aproximação da arte no cinema, da arte em geral e dos seus próprios processos criativos.

Inscrições após esta data, ou incompletas não serão aceites.

Verifique se o DVD é legível num leitor de DVD Região Europeia 2, ou Região Universal 0.

Não são necessárias taxas de inscrição.

Por favor leia o regulamento antes da inscrição.

Para os filmes seleccionados será necessário o envio de material adicional como:

- fotografias do realizador,
- 2 imagens (stills) do filme,
- biografia/filmografia do realizador,
- ficha técnica,
- texto constante no filme,
- outro material promocional, caso exista

SUBMIT A FILM

The selected films will be screened only in digital formats in original language with Portuguese subtitles.

The film submission consists of three components:

NEW!! Please indicate on the form whether your are interested that your film in case of selection, will be screened one time each in two further cities of Portugal, Oporto and Faro.

2. A preview copy. Only DVD is accepted. Film submissions have to have subtitles in English if the film's language is not English. In the case of films of Portuguese language, the text of the film has to be attached as digital file to enable non-Portuguese members of the jury to preview the film. The preview copy has to be identical with the final screening copy.
The preview copies will not be returned or, if requested, to the expenses of the film maker.

3. A director's statement about the creative process of his film on art. The FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL FILMES SOBRE ARTE PORTUGAL is interested in the work process and the implications when artists of different disciplines creating work together. The director's statement is seen as a contribution to this specific character of the festival. It is interested in director's approach on art in film, art in general, creative process and so on.

The preview copy, together with the printed and signed inscription form and the director's statement has to be sent to the festival latest until 15th of July 2015 to the following adress:

Later entries or entries which miss one of these three parts are in no way accepted. Please check that your DVD is properly working on a regular DVD player and capable of being played within the European DVD zone. No entry fees are requested.

We appreciate early submissions! Please read the regulations before submitting.The announcement of the award winners will be made on the our website right after the festival.

If the film is selected, additional materials for the selected films, such as photo of the director, two stills from the film, biography/filmography of the director, list of credits, text of the film, other promotional material if existing, have to be sent to the festival.
